The presiding deity is Lord Suriyanar, the Sun and his consorts Ushadevi and Pratyusha Devi. This temple also has separate shrines for the other planetary deities. An unfavourably positioned Sun in the horoscope results in lack of intelligence, poor perception, weakness of will and character. A sincere worship at this temple gives one strength, health, good eyesight and long life. Another special feature about this temple is the fact that devotees who are unable to visit the other Navagraha temples, visit this temple to worship the respective planet.
