[22] When the Master had made an end of this discourse he declared the Truths:--now at the conclusion of the Truths the layman entered upon the First Path:--and he thus identified the Birth; "At that time Uppalavanna was the deity, Ananda was the attendant, and I myself was the Brahmin Sankha."
